I used to stop by Celt’s Vintage Crochet every once in awhile to check for updates to this fascinating archive. Lots of crochet patterns, and some knitting designs, from early 20th century publications. And you could browse through them and print them out “free, gratis, and for nothing” (apologies to Alice Beer). Sadly, the owner has decided to close the site. You can read about her reasons here.
This was the site where I found the Hemlock Ring pattern that Jared Flood used as the basis for his gorgeous blanket.
All is not completely lost, though. The Wayback Machine has archived a December 2007 version of the site here, so you can still see most of what was available there. Print out your favourites while the opportunity exists.

Several years ago I made the Sunburst Pineapple doily for my daughter in Red worsted weight yarn and “J” hook for a very large afghan. She loved it. When the next daughter decided she wanted an afghan, too, the site was gone. Thank you so much for retrieving it. I can now make the pattern she choose.

If she took her site down she obviously didn’t want anyone to access it. Why would you provide a way to get around her wishes when she didn’t want the information accessed? That’s inappropriate and certainly shows no respect for her wishes.

I was not aware that the site’s original author did not want people using the Wayback machine to access the archives of her site. If she considers my post to be inappropriate, I will certainly remove it upon her request. Thanks for your feedback.

I am a member of the Celtsvintagelibrary@yahoogroup.com. At this moment I cannot get to my email for it is locked up. I was wondering if you could send all forwarding info to mollyhayes69@yahoo.com. If so it would be much appreceiated. If not guess I will just have to wait till I can get back into it to get my much backedup emails for the group.

Hi, Molly: I’m not sure I understand what you are asking for. If you can provide more details, I would be happy to help!

There’s nothing wrong with using the Internet Archive to access websites that are no longer active. The patterns on Celt’s Vintage Crochet were all in the public domain anyway and should be free for anyone to use.

I am working on placemats I think were from Celt’s site. I have lost my pattern somehow and need it to finish placemats for a christmas gift. They are square or can be used as diamond shape. They have one rows of double crochet then rows where you dc then ch 2 then dc. I am desparate to find this pattern so I can finish. I would appreciate any help.

I may have the pattern you’re looking for, Jackalyn, as I have thousands of patterns saved to my computer. It sounds like you’re talking about a filet pattern. Do you remember the name or number of the pattern?
Alternatively, you can open a yahoo email account and then join Celt’s yahoo group called vintagesheetpatterns, where she has a lot of files you can download. Or, once you join the group, post a message asking her about it.
